I've been stitching for a long time, about 13 years now.
And it's only been in the last 12 months that I've discovered hand dyed fabrics and flosses. And I am obsessed :p
I don't have a huge collection (yet) but I wanted to show off some of the ones I do have, especially now that I've decided which are my favourites :)
So to start with we have a few silks from Threadpickerz. I haven't used these yet, I'll be honest. I'm not sure how best to use them, so one of my challenges for next year is to use them.
I have five colours (from top) Cat's Eyes, Ocean Nebula, Black Orchid, Hocus Pocus and Amazon Parrot.
There was an event in The Stash, Stitch and Honking Raketeers group I'm in on Facebook. They hold monthly events which are sometimes for RAKing, gift certificates and competitions. It's been great fun to be part of.
So for this Threadpickerz event you put your name down for an amount to gift to your partner. Then you could the amount you were gifted to select some silks.
Next we have some Dinky Dyes and a couple of threads from Stitches and Spice.
The threads from Stitches and Spice are two sampler threads, which I haven't worked out how to use them yet, and one 6 strand cotton, not yet used, but it will be soon :)
Then we have the Dinky Dyes. They are all 6 stranded cottons, and I have not yet used them in any projects. Sadly a few of them have some marks from a red pen which I believe may have come from where I purchased them, because I don't own a red pen.
Next we have my absolute favourites from Fiberlicious Yummy Fibers, a group I found on Facebook from a very gifted enabler :p
I'm sure we all know who I'm talking about :p
I absolutely love these colours. They are available in 6 strand cottons and in silks, I prefer 6 strand cottons so I have not yet purchased any silks, but I may in the future.
So far I've only used Stormy Blue, I used it for the border of this Mystery SAL by Joan Elliott.
I am planning on buying even more from Fiberlicious, and I'm hoping she decides to do layby's as well, so I can buy in a huge bunch at once :)
Beautiful threads
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful floss! I put out a blog post on hand dyed threads today too if you are interested: http://www.crossstitchreview.com/hand-dyed-floss/
ReplyDeleteI saw, great stitchy minds think alike it seems :p
DeleteSo Pretty!! I am the exact same as you. I had no idea there were such pretty threads and fabrics out there. I don't live anywhere near a needlework shop and actually I had no idea there even was such a thing. If I couldn't get it at Micheals or Walmart, I didn't know it existed. haha.
