Currently Reading!

I know, I've been slack with posting.
I've been vlogging a bit more lately which is good, but neglecting my blog, my stitching and my reading.

As you can see the whole challenge I set myself for reading a book day didn't last long.

I hit a bit of a reading slump and then had a bunch of life stuff pop up.

I'm currently reading two books actively.

I picked this up at my library thinking it was a steampunk style book, I've been super curious about steampunk fiction.
This is a book written as if the author was a persona of a Kurt Vonnegut character.
It's really fast paced and doesn't have a set timeline as such.
It does jump around, but not in a way that makes it hard to follow.
It follows an Earth man who has decided to explore space to find the answers to his questions. He's kind of forced off the Earth, but I'll leave that to you to read why :p
It's very tongue in cheek, with lots of aliens. And alien sex organs.
The character is kind of like the David Attenborough of aliens and alien society/sex.

This is the other book I am reading at the moment.
This was sent to me for review by the author, which always makes me smile and feel good when people want me to read something they worked hard on.
This is a fantasy set in and around India and it's mythology.
It takes inspiration from mythology but does not claim to be accurate, which is why I feel it's fantasy and not a mythological fiction type book.
So far I am really enjoying it. I'm not super far into it, but the 150 pages or so I have read have been great.

Bookstand #3

More reading!

Still not super motivated to read, but I'm getting along :)

I've been trying to hunt down a copy of the Julia Gillard book, but not for $40-odd.
Even the ebook is $20.
Ebook prices are a joke.

Recent Finishes

This was such a good read!

I will first of all put a trigger warning on this however, as it does deal quite a bit with the sexual abuse of children.

I was sent an Advanced Reading Copy by Allen and Unwin through the Reading Room.

This book will be released in July, and I do hope people pick it up :)

This book follows the events of two women with very different lives who end up in the same correctional facility.

The Wise Man's Fear - Patrick Rothfuss

I'm still plugging away at this one :p
I've got to the 30% mark so far.
Such a long book, but I love it so much.
It's a fantastic fantasy world.

I'm putting myself on a book buying restriction so I can put funds away for the Book Expo in October.
I got a free ticket from Selena Fenech (I fangirled so much when she replied to my email).
I can't wait to buy some more books from her at the Expo, and just buying books in general :p

Bookstand #1

This is something new that I'm doing :)
I'll be putting these up every Monday.

It will be a book related feature, where I talk about the books that I will be reading/am reading and have finished in the last/next week :)
Depending on when I type this all out I may have finished a book that I list or started one I haven't listed, but that will be the times I write this in advance and schedule it :)

But onto the books!!

What I'm currently reading:

This is a novella, something small about Queen Levana's past to tide us over until book 4 of the Lunar Chronicles comes out.
I'm reading this as an e-book.

What I've finished reading:

More Hellchasers now please!
I love Sherrilyn's work, all of it.
I have not yet read a book from her that I've disliked.

This was a random bargin book I decided to take a chance on.
It was so good.
Super funny, and super accurate.
Living as an insomniac is a major pain in the ass, this book provides a little insight to what it's like.
I encourage everyone to pick this up and give it a go, especially if you have insomnia or know someone who is.
